Another installment from our popular “Meet the Team” feature, this week we’re catching up with Saskia, who joined GCP Central earlier this year as Content & training manager. Join us as we find out all about Saskia’s role at GCP Central.
Where are you from?
I was born and raised in Gorinchem, and have lived in Utrecht and Deventer, but my most recent move is to Amsterdam. I’m still adjusting to the pace of city life here, but really happy to be able to cycle to work and thoroughly enjoying the Amsterdam vibe.
What is your background?
I studied the oboe at the conservatorium in Utrecht, after graduation I did some teaching and gigs but needed a break from my oboe. I entered the business world and soon began developing training materials and give training, etc, and that’s the link with my second round of study, Educational Science.
Why did you decide to join the GCP Central team?
The challenge of managing content but also developing the future program for GCP Central continuous learning was a big draw for me.
In my previous career, I had a lot of experience developing learning programs, (performance support, eLearning and, learning games) which over the years developed into a real something I really love doing. I have worked for all kinds of businesses across different industries.
I was excited to be involved in program development again on a strategic and high level.
What do you hope to achieve in your new role?
Increased success in embedding continuous learning within our industry, by offering the tools and processes to do this.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself?
Hmm… maybe I should have kept it a secret that I studied the professional oboe playing… this is often a surprise to people when I mention it.
We’re looking forward to welcoming Saskia to the GCP Central team, and who knows maybe we can convince her to play the oboe at this year’s Christmas party!
